The Local Police of San Vicente del Raspeig have identified 120 speeding violations in just 40 minutes during a recent operation on Calle Río Turia. This enforcement action was part of a special surveillance campaign organised by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT).
Officers carried out the operation using the municipal mobile radar unit. Fines for the recorded infractions range from 100 euro to 600 euro, with the potential for additional penalty points being deducted from the driver’s licence, depending on the specific speed recorded in each instance.
Following an analysis of the radar data, the City Council has indicated that the significant number of violations detected in such a brief period highlights an urgent need to examine potential measures to enhance road safety at this location.
The Citizen Security and Traffic department is now considering commissioning a study to assess the condition of the road. Additionally, the department intends to request that the infrastructure department evaluate potential structural improvements for Calle Río Turia and the surrounding area.
The Local Police’s mobile radar unit will continue to be deployed across various locations throughout the municipality, with a particular focus on areas that experience a high frequency of incidents, accidents, or complaints from residents. According to the City Council, the primary objective is to strengthen preventative measures and discourage speeding.
The Department of Citizen Security and Traffic has urged all drivers to respect speed limits and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent accidents that could result in both personal and material damage.
