Firefighters were called to a emergency in Dénia yesterday afternoon, Thursday 20th August, when a classic vehicle caught fire at a petrol station.
The incident took place on Calle Corona Boreal, located in the town’s new neighbourhood near the IES Sorts de la Mar institute. A historic Citroën Mehari was completely engulfed by flames while preparing to refuel, leaving the vehicle entirely charred.
Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene to extinguish the blaze and prevent the fire from spreading to the service station itself, avoiding further danger. Images of the blaze were shared by Rafael Núñez, a member of a Citroën classic car club. No personal injuries or additional material damage were reported.

The incident added to a busy Thursday afternoon for local firefighters, who were already responding to emergency calls caused by a storm and a traffic accident on the N-332. It also marks the second vehicle fire in Dénia within a single week, following another incident on Wednesday when a parked vehicle caught fire in the Llunàtics car park.
