Woman arrested in Alcoy for running sexual exploitation operation in flat

National Police officers have arrested a 34-year-old woman in the Alicante town of Alcoy for allegedly running a sexual exploitation business from a rented apartment. The operation involved vulnerable foreign women who were charged between 220 and 270 euro per week to use rooms for prostitution.

The illicit sexual services were managed using an online site. In addition, the operation provided a driver whenever clients requested services at their own homes. Through an external contact, the operators were also able to supply clients with illegal drugs if requested, according to a statement released by the National Police.

Investigators from the Foreigners Unit at Alcoy police station began their enquiries after receiving an anonymous telephone tip-off. The caller reported that foreign women were being exploited for prostitution on the first floor of a residential building in the town, and that the property was being managed by a couple.

Police officers subsequently confirmed that foreign women were being sexually exploited inside the residence. Investigators determined that the woman managing the flat was profiting from the activity by taking advantage of the victims’ vulnerable circumstances and their irregular immigration status in Spain.

The suspect charged the women between 220 and 270 euro each week for renting one of the three rooms available in the property to carry out sexual services. The flat was also fitted with security cameras that monitored the interior 24 hours a day.

Among the services arranged by the suspect was the hiring of a driver to transport the women to clients’ homes whenever requested, as well as obtaining illegal drugs if clients asked for them.

During the investigation, officers discovered advertisements on adult websites offering room rentals in the building specifically for prostitution, as well as ads for a woman who regularly provided services at the property. After identifying the tenant managing the flat, officers located and arrested her. The woman has since been handed over to the local instruction court.
