The Guardia Civil have arrested two men in Calpe aged 25 and 37 as suspected perpetrators of a violent robbery against two pedestrians in the municipality.
According to the details of the case, the suspects followed their victims along the public highway before confronting them. During the assault, one of the alleged attackers struck a 63-year-old man in the head to steal a bag containing money and other belongings. A second person accompanying the main victim intervened in an attempt to stop the robbery and also sustained injuries during the struggle.
Because of the severity of the head injury and subsequent physical trauma, the 63-year-old victim required transfer to a hospital for medical treatment.
Investigators from the Guardia Civil launched enquiries immediately after becoming aware of the incident. Information gathered at the scene allowed officers to focus their initial efforts on the vehicle allegedly used by the perpetrators. Within two hours, authorities successfully located the car and identified one of the suspects, while follow-up enquiries led to the identification of the second individual the following day.
The two arrested men were placed at the disposal of the Investigation Section of the Dénia Court of Instance, which ordered the release of both suspects with charges and precautionary measures.
