The National Police have arrested the president and the secretary and treasurer of a cannabis club administration, two men aged 25 and 32, who allegedly used the association as a cover to sell drugs in L’Alfàs del Pi, Alicante.
The establishment was allegedly advertised on websites specifically designed for these entities to reach domestic and foreign tourists visiting the city for their holidays, according to a statement from the police force.
The investigation was carried out by Judicial Police agents from the Benidorm Police Station. It began after officers received information indicating the possible existence of a narcotic substance sales point within a cannabis group in L’Alfàs del Pi. The group was registered with the Department of Legal Entities of the Valencian Government as a cannabis association with activity dedicated to naturism and alternative medicines.
Police subsequently detected a constant flow of people, mostly tourists, who left the premises hurriedly after a brief period. This generated social alarm among the neighbour community, according to the security force. Surveillance devices were then set up near the premises to investigate suspected drug sales operating under the legal protection of a cannabis association.
Following the surveillance, agents confirmed that people entered and left the premises after allegedly acquiring substances. The club supposedly operated as a sales point where anyone could access it to buy and take away drugs without needing to be a partner or member.
Agents verified the ownership of the premises, the people responsible for the association, and the corresponding permits and licences before requesting a search and seizure order from the city courts.
During the search authorised by the judicial system, agents seized 295 grams of budded marijuana, 331 grams of hashish in the form of acorns, 221 grams of hashish oil, several marijuana joints, and 0.60 grams of cocaine. They also seized 520€ in cash and other items used for distributing and dispensing the substances.
Regarding the administrative status of the establishment, the police explained that there was no record of any municipal licence, opening documentation at the town hall, or any initial procedure registered.
The officers arrested the two men as suspected perpetrators of drug trafficking and illicit association. All police proceedings have been sent to the Benidorm investigating courts.
