The socialist spokesperson in Les Corts Valencianes, José Muñoz, has demanded that Carlos Mazón return the 1,931 euro collected in mileage allowances since leaving the presidency of the Generalitat. Muñoz denounced the situation as completely unjustifiable, given that Mazón has access to an ex-president office equipped with a driver and an official vehicle for his journeys.
“Carlos Mazón is taking 1,931 euro every time he comes to Les Corts Valencianes,” Muñoz stated, noting that the figure corresponds to records up to July, meaning the actual amount is likely higher. Muñoz also criticized Mazón for continuing to receive a 634 euro supplement as spokesperson for the Committee on Rules, a body he pointed out has not met since Mazón assumed the role.
“It is a disgrace that Carlos Mazón continues as a member of parliament, shielded and protected by Feijóo and the Partido Popular, but even more so that he is collecting mileage allowances that make no sense when he has a driver and an official car taking him to his residence and official events,” Muñoz declared.
Consequently, the socialist spokesperson urged the Partido Popular to take responsibility and expel Mazón from its ranks. He also called on the former president to return the funds, arguing that the money belongs to the people of the region rather than someone who has a dedicated driver and team.
Additionally, Muñoz reiterated demands from the PSPV-PSOE to remove the portrait of former institutional president Julio de España from Les Corts Valencianes following a conviction for sexual assault, while warning about the political implications of figures linked to gender-based offenses.
