Mujer del Marinero

The Mujer del Marinero monument in Torrevieja is dedicated to the wives of sailors who take to the sea on a regular basis, some of whom never return.

The statue aims to represent the pain that can be felt by these women, the anxiety as their husbands, fathers, or sons set sail, in potentially deadly situations, to work at sea, yet all she can do, is wave them off with hope in her heart.

Once they have left, all the women can do is wait, with their eyes fixed on the horizon, to see the silhouette of the ships in which their loved ones left.

This monument is situated about halfway along the wooden walkway of the harbour wall in Torrevieja.
