Antonio Lozano Espinosa

The death was announced this week of former Mayor of Orihuela, Antonio Lozano Espinosa, at the age of 77.

The socialist politician led the municipality between November of 1982 and May of 1983, taking over from the first elected mayor, Francisco García Ortuño during a particularly volatile time for Orihuela.

The city held a day of mourning in respect for the loss of the mayor, with flags flying at half mast.
