TIME TO GET HAPPY SHOPPING

The commercial department of Torrevieja town hall has a campaign running to show people being happy shopping.

Although time is running out, with the deadline being the 5th of May, it is your chance for fame, fortune and stardom, by submitting your own 30 second clip of being happy whilst shopping in Torrevieja, to the tune of “Happy” by Pharrell Williams.

Not quite a success as the viral explosion of “Gangnam Style” by the Korean entertainer Psy, “Happy” has become a global hit by many people creating their own versions of the accompanying video, with even Oprah Winfrey getting involved in the success story.

In order to take part, you must record a video, of no more than 30 seconds, with one or more people dancing in a happy mood, using a location of the city of Torrevieja as a background, in order promote the location as either a tourist or shopping destination. You should also be carrying a yellow bag in the video, which can be obtained from the department of commerce at Calle Maldonado nº 1, opposite the town hall.

When you collect your bag, you will also be able to ask for one of the many ways to submit your video, and you can visit their Facebook page, facebook.com/concejalia.comercio.torrevieja for more details.

The ten lucky winners who are most voted for will win the chance to have their video appear on You Tube, as well as a voucher for dinner for everyone in your video, up to a maximum of ten people.

Remember though, you have to look “Happy”, unlike many of the people in the pictures on their Facebook page, and, as the aim is about shopping and tourism, just to avoid any doubt, the Zenia Boulevard is not in Torrevieja, so you probably shouldn´t consider that as a location for your You Tube stardom bid.
