The town hall of Orihuela, through the Department of Commerce, has presented the first edition of the Record Fair, which will take place on 7th and 8th November at the La Lonja Auditorium. Throughout the weekend, this venue will bring together specialised shops, collectors and music fans, offering a wide selection of records in various formats alongside three vinyl music sessions hosted by professionals linked to Orihuela.
The councillor for commerce, Vicente Pina, accompanied by music producer Óscar Ferrer, unveiled the details of this new initiative, which is organised by the town hall and directed and produced by bailamamá Music. The event aims to boost commercial activity, attract visitors to the city and provide a meeting point for people who enjoy music and record collecting.
The fair will be held both inside and outside La Lonja, operating from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:30 on both days. Attendees will be able to browse different specialised stalls, purchase records from various eras and styles, discover vintage editions and enjoy an atmosphere centred around music.
During the presentation, Vicente Pina highlighted that this proposal forms part of the ongoing work carried out by the Department of Commerce to encourage public footfall in the streets of Orihuela and support local businesses. He stated that the department is driving activities to keep the city active and lively, encouraging residents to go out, participate and visit local shops.
Pina explained that choosing a record fair responds to the enduring appeal of vinyl, a format that has maintained its attraction despite industry changes and new technologies. He noted that listening to a vinyl record offers a unique way to appreciate a format that has accompanied generations and retains a vast following.
The Record Fair will feature a wide variety of recorded material, including vinyl records, CDs and cassettes. Participating establishments will offer LPs, singles, maxi-singles, EPs, reissues, deleted records, second-hand items and special national and international editions.
The selection will cover numerous musical genres, such as rock, pop, indie, punk, soul, funk, jazz, blues, electronic music, hip-hop, metal, reggae and Spanish music. There will also be space for memorabilia, posters, publications, merchandise and other music-related items.
A major highlight of this first edition will be the participation of Discos Bora Bora, a specialised establishment located in Granada and managed by Don Gonzalo, an individual from Orihuela with a recognised career in the record industry. Vicente Pina expressed satisfaction at welcoming back local professionals who have developed their careers outside the municipality.
Additionally, music producer Óscar Ferrer thanked the town hall and the Department of Commerce for supporting the initiative, noting that vinyl remains a favourite medium for listening to complete albums.
The programme will feature three vinyl DJ sessions led by figures connected to Orihuela’s musical culture, including Vanessa Beegirl, Don Gonzalo and Pana Pinchadiscos. Furthermore, La Alacena de la Vega will install a stall offering traditional gastronomic products from the Vega Baja region.
