The Mil Palmeras Bull Run

More than 400 people took part last weekend in the Mil Palmeras Bull Run although on this occasion the event was carried our rather more humanely with inflatable bulls, rather than the real thing.

The whole town entered into the spirit with over 20 bars and restaurants offering a selection of drinks and tapas together with the local specialty, the tortilla skewer, while the bulls roamed around the square teasing locals and tourists alike.

The Nadia Marquez School of Flamenco opened the entertainment. They were followed by a number of local musicians including the School of Modern Dance which took to the stage to show off the routines they had been taught at the school located in Pilar de la Horadada.

The mayor, José Fidel Ros, made especial mention of their performance, which was led by Pilareño, Ivan Tirado, in his speech.

The day’s activities, which had been organized by Councillor , Asunción Sánchez, were closed with a tribute to Manolo García.

The Restaurante Los Celtas was awarded the prize of best tortilla following which the entertainment continued and the bulls roamed the streets until late into the night.
