Together with a number of passersby, the Orihuela Council was out demonstrating against domestic violence once again following the death of last week’s latest victim, on this occasion a local woman, Yolanda. In 2014 this now brings the figure of women killed by male violence to 34.
‘This time’ a spokesman for the council said, ‘It’s not a number but a woman that we all know, one of our own. A death that hits us even harder than many of the rest’.
Yolanda has now become just one more statistic, 526 women killed since 2007, leaving behind forever their families, their children, their friends and their neighbors, through hands of a criminal who believed he was entitled to kill a woman.
