This is the 9th calender put together by Andy Ormiston

Representatives of several associations got together last week in the Rocajuna offices of lawyers ArocaSequier when the Solidarity Fiesta Calendar 2015 was presented.

Andy Ormiston explained that this is the ninth charity calendar which various charity groups sell for six euros to boost their own funds. The title of the calendar is a ‘Torrevieja Outlook’, which is the name of a free electronic monthly magazine and webpage run by Andy, who has missed a couple of years producing this informative calendar due to ill health, but thanks to support from local businesses, once again he has been able to print the calendar free to the associations.

Here at The Leader we will be selling it in aid of this year’s Royal British Legión Poppy Appeal.

During the presentation Andy made an Award of appreciation to Fernardo Guardiola for the work of his team at Objectivo Torrevieja who report every event organised for charity in Torrevieja.

There was another award for Keith Nicol who provided photographs for the calendar. Other Photos were by Javier Torregrosa and Carlos García, who once again designed the Calendar.

There was also a big surprise for Karolina of the Torrevieja Charity Reach Out when she was presented with a donation of 5,431,71 euros by lawyer Miguel Angel Aroca in collaboration with Currency Direct.

Reach Out is only three years in existence where volunteers provide support to the homeless by offering a drop in centre where they can shower, have a change of clothing or launder their own, and have something to eat; Karolina laughingly said that their homeless were the cleanest and best dressed in Spain, thanks to the magnicent support they have been receiving by members of the local community.

The colourful calendar is a poster sized edition of sixteen pages, full of information about fiestas and events, not only in Torrevieja, but also in neighbouring towns of the Valencia and Murcia regions. Each month the main photo is about a fiesta or place, with space for notes. The bank holidays in Spain, United Kingdom and Ireland are also marked up, along with full moon and international events.

It is not just a twelve month calendar but there are extra pages of photos and information featuring local monuments and cultural events. There are important emergency numbers as well as a useful web sites for those looking for information of weather, places to visit, hospitals, hotels, tourist events etc.

The calendar can be obtained from the Leader Offices in Los Dolses from where sales will be donated to the Royal British Legion.

Other outlets selling the calender are HELP, Age Concern shops in Torrevieja and Los Montesinos, Alzheimers Day Centre, K9 shops at La Marina and Almoradi, AECC at Playa Flamenca, Reach Out at Nueva Torrevieja and The Coastrider new offices in C. Quesada ON their behalf: the Samaritans at Punta Marina, two of the ArocaSequier and Alamo Costa Blanca offices.

The production of the calendar has been possible thanks to the sponsorship of Alamo Costa Blanca, Brithol Mapfre Seguros, Atlas Insurance Brokers, and hosts of the presentation – ArocaSequir Abogados y Associates.
