Volunteers from the Reach Out team recently attended the launch of Andy Ormiston’s Torrevieja Outlook 2015 calendar – a beautiful solidarity calendar which, thanks to costs being covered by sponsors, all the charities selling the calendar can keep 100% of the profits (copies on sale at both Reach Out shops now).
At the launch, President of Reach Out, Karolina Leonard, was called to the stage by Miguel Angel of Aroca Seiquer law firm in the Rocajuna urbanisation (their beautiful offices and gardens were used as a launch venue for the calendar).
Through his dealings with money transfers for clients, Miguel Angel accrues commission from Currencies Direct. Rather than keeping the commission, he lets the pot build up for donation to local charities.
Karolina was shocked and delighted to receive the donation which amounted to over €5000. She told us, “Our intense gratitude to Miguel Angel, his clients and staff, and to Currencies Direct for making this possible. It is hard to describe what this donation means, but let me try to put it into context.
On the morning of the calendar launch, a group of volunteers gathered at the drop in centre for morning prayers. There, we were praying for blankets.
Gathered in a circle, we prayed for blankets and sleeping bags as the nights are getting cold, and the homeless people are suffering. Who knew that just a few hours later, we would go to the launch of Andy’s brilliant calendar, and for such a miracle to be handed to us. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.”
