Both the Torrevieja University Hospital and Elche’s Vinalopo Hospital have launched a new service virtual tour facility in collaboration with ‘Google Places’.
Through this tool, by using real images, members of the public can walk through the interior of the hospital and acquaint themselves with any area of interest prior to an appointment or a visit.
The service allows the user to identify a service or an area of the hospital, and hopefully make any subsequent visit easier to navigate and of course less stressful
The application uses 360 degree digital images from scanned blueprints at both centers, with the aim of providing users better accessibility to facilities.
By using these interactive tools, patients and families will find it much easier to get around the buildings, to see exactly where they need to go and navigate themselves through the main areas of hospitals, including surgical and medical areas, outpatient, emergency and many other departments.
To get around this 360 degree tour the individual is guided by arrows as ‘Google Places’ takes you to your the chosen location. In addition the images are displayed in a gigapixel quality that allows zooming in areas to provide far greater detail without losing image resolution
