Equipo EBT

Madrid and Torrevieja 2015/1/25 – The second Team of Six Round Robin of the Spanish Tenpin Bowling Premiership was bowled last weekend in Madrid (men) and Torrevieja (ladies).

Club Euro Bowling Torrevieja’s both teams won five of their seven matches and improved their standing. So much so that the Torry men are now positioned as runners-up and can feel the silver medals in their fingertips. The EBT ladies are equally well positioned to catch a meritorious fifth place.

The male winning team is already practically announced, as Diagonal of Barcelona will travel to the final meeting in March with a whopping 46-point advantage.

Euro Bowling Torrevieja, this time composed by Spanish and Scandinavian bowlers and captained by the Norwegian resident Kjell Monsen, did well in Madrid and managed to rise from fourth to second place.

However, Celta de Vigo are breathing in their neck, only three points behind. A mere ten points now separate four tems in contention of the silver medals, so high tension is guaranteed for the last round.

A Torry Triumvirate

In the individual contest of the weekend, EBT´s young Finnish star Joonas Jähi posted a superb average, 228.57 pins per game, and left everybody else far behind. EBT now has the top three positions in the overall table, with the former world champion Tore Torgersen (236.36) in first place, Jähi second, and another Finnish star Mika Määttä (215.36) in third place.

Celta’s international player, Francisco Rodríguez, is fourth (214.93) and Diagonal’s French star Pierre-Luc Sánchez is fifth (211.60), followed by five of his team mates, all averaging more than 200 per game – numbers that clearly show what the Catalan team is made of.

Ladies’ Premiership at Ozone Torrevieja

The seven Spanish female top teams met for the first time at Torrevieja’s superb Ozone Bowling. A new leader emerged as Elche’s Ilicitano rose to a total of 105 points with a team average of 185.89. They are being haunted by Madrid’s Capital Bowling (98/181.73), CB Torrejón (95/182.98), and Valencia’s Levante Bowling (92/177.50). The rest of the teams, Alyco BC Madrid (62/165.02), Euro Bowling Torrevieja (60/166.46), and Flecha-1 (48/154.52) will fight over the fifth place and against relegation.

The top three averages of the weekend were posted by Ilicitano’s Laurence Gaillard (204.29) and Alejandra Sandoval (197.14), and Capital’s Sara del Olmo (194.93). Mirja Hakonen, one of EBT’s Finnish residents and a founding member of the club, posted the high average of the Torry ladies, 175.64.
