Secretary of State for Security, Francisco Martínez, has stressed that “Spain is now a safer country”, whilst reporting in a conference this week how the current crime rate has fallen from 48.4 in late 2011 to 44.5 in February 2015.
The statement was made in a cyber security conference in which the Secretary highlighted the different measures implemented by the Government to combat Jihadist terrorism on all fronts, saying that “jihadist terrorism has developed a macabre propaganda machine for trying to gain new followers whilst exhibiting such cruelty”.
Martínez then thanked the organisers for a special award given on behalf of the new mobile application for contacting the police in Spain, Alertcops, which is described as pioneering in the field of security.
