CD TORREVIEJA – 2 UD ALZIRA – 2
Fans favourite Cristian bagged a brace in Torry’s last game of a roller coaster season, that promised so much, but ultimately saw them finish in a disappointing 10th position.
When Torry achieved an excellent 0-3 victory at Alzira in early Jan, everything seemed so rosy for the Salinas men, but a catastrophic slump in form, not only proved costly in terms of promotion, but it also cost manager Galiano his job.
Enter Pedreno, who has completely rejuvenated a demoralised squad, giving skilful players like Cristian a chance to prove what he really can do.
The game started with Alzira in the ascendancy, as Higon converting a cross from Francesc after only 11 mins, giving his side the lead. When on 40 mins, Palomares headed home a corner by Quique, it looked as if the season would finish on a low note, but just before the interval, Brani crossed from the right for Cristian to fire home and reduce the arrears.
With time ticking away, a well worked move involving Rafa, Cesar and Cristian, resulted in the latter scoring his 2nd, and Torry’s equalising goal.
Jorge was presented with Torry Army player of the season, and it will be interesting to see who wins the other awards on offer, at Tues nights end of season function. One note of interest, is that Oscar played in every minute of all 42 matches this season. Well done Oscar, you are a credit to your profession.
TORRY LINE-UP. Oscar, Vicente, Jorge, Burguillos (Juanra), Edi, Cristian, Brani (Cesar), Borja, Berna, Rafa, Corella (Carrasco)
