A 35-year-old man has been arrested in Guardamar del Segura (Alicante) for allegedly leaving his 5-year-old daughter alone in the house in order for him to go to a local karaoke bar.
As reported by the Guardia Civil, at about 03:25 on Friday morning a neighbour called them to report the cries and screams of the girl, who lives alone with her father, of Spanish nationality.
The officers jumped the fence of the courtyard to the home and heard the cries of the girl and, according to the Guardia Civil, the house was inspected for the possibility that something may have happened to the father, but officers found no trace of the mam and his known vehicle was missing.
The officers began a search and located the car an hour later near a local karaoke bar, within which the father was “oblivious to everything that was happening at home”.
The officers found that the man was sober and fully capable of continuing to care for his daughter, “who had already suffered enough frights in the night”. Due to the latter and in order to cause the least harm to the child, the man was arrested on suspicion of a serious misdemeanor neglect of a minor and released with charges pending to allow him to care for the child until the court case.
