Cyclist Killed near Moncayo

A cyclist, said to be a 62-year-old Ukrainian, was killed on Sunday morning whilst cycling on the N-332 in the Moncayo area, between Guardamar and Torrevieja.

The man, a resident in Rojales, was hit by a vehicle said to be driven by a 24-year-old girl. A paramedic ambulance was sent to the scene but could do nothing to preserve the life of the cyclist, whereas the car driver was taken to Torrevieja hospital suffering from shock.

An investigation is underway to determine the facts which led to this latest tragedy.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja. It's been a long time coming, but the La Siesta Skate Park is due to open this week with the inauguration set for Saturday 16 March at 11:00 a.m. The park contains many different facilities for different sports modalities, and there's seating around the entire area.
