The PSOE of Torrevieja has formally reconstituted Juventudes Socialistas in the city, marking the start of a new phase aimed at boosting youth participation, strengthening civic engagement, and defending long-term opportunities for young people.
The relaunch event, held over the weekend, signals a renewed organisational commitment to youth politics based on proximity, active listening, and practical support. The new local executive will be led by Nuria Martí as president and Julia Manzanares as secretary for organisation, alongside Fabiola Andreu as deputy secretary general and Marisol Belén Maglio as secretary for social life and education.
The event was attended by representatives from the regional PSOE, Juventudes Socialistas del País Valencià, and members of the local socialist group, who gathered to support the new leadership team at the start of this new chapter.
Youth as a Driver of Change
During the event, Bárbara Soler, secretary general of the PSOE in Torrevieja, congratulated the new executive and praised the commitment shown by its members. She highlighted the strategic importance of youth within the socialist project and the need to encourage greater involvement in public life.
Soler underlined the challenge of reconnecting young people with politics, stressing that political engagement should not be seen as distant or inaccessible. She described participation as a vital tool for improving everyday life and argued that when young people become active, society as a whole moves forward.
She also emphasised the importance of creating a city model that allows young residents to build their future locally. According to Soler, true success lies in ensuring that young talent does not feel forced to leave Torrevieja, but instead chooses to live, work, start families, or launch projects within the city.
Responding to a Lack of Opportunities
For their part, Nuria Martí and Julia Manzanares thanked party members for their support and explained that the return of Juventudes Socialistas is a direct response to the limited opportunities currently available to young people in Torrevieja.
They described the city as one of the largest in the Valencian Community, yet warned that for many young residents it has become “a desert of opportunities”. In response, the new organisation plans to combine scrutiny of municipal action with the development of its own political proposals.
Their project is structured around three core principles: proximity, active listening, and usefulness. This will include a strong presence on social media and direct advisory work to help young people understand their rights and access public grants and support schemes.
The new leadership stressed their intention to be practical from the outset, ensuring that no young person in Torrevieja misses out on opportunities due to a lack of information or overly complex administrative processes.
A New Stage for Youth Politics
The organisers also called for the creation of dedicated youth spaces and a stronger commitment to local talent, arguing that youth policy should go beyond cultural events and festivals.
With this reconstitution, Juventudes Socialistas of Torrevieja begins a new phase with the ambition of becoming a strong voice for youth demands and an active participant in shaping the city’s future.
