The Guardia Civil has arrested a 70-year-old man who is accused of stabbing his ex-partner, a 64-year-old nurse, with a knife in a health centre in the Castellón town of Benicàssim. The nurse died after being taken to the hospital.
Sources at the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU) say that medical staff treated the victim at the site and then an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Assistance Service (SAMU) took them to the hospital. He passed away later.
The Guardia Civil say that the person who is accused of hurting the victim is their ex-partner and that they are now in jail.
The attack happened for reasons that are still being looked into at the clinic in La Plana Alta, where the suspect is said to have stabbed the victim many times.
The woman, who was 64 years old, died after being taken to the General University Hospital of Castellón.
The same sources have also said that neither the victim nor the person accused of the crime were in the VioGén system, which keeps track of all cases of gender-based violence.
The Guardia Civil is still looking into what happened to have a better idea of what happened.
The Nursing Association of the Valencian Community (CECOVA) has spoken out against the “violent attack” on this nurse and called for more protection for healthcare workers.
