The Albatera City Council and the Alicante Civil Guard Command have signed an agreement to establish a citizen service office on the second floor of the 3 de Abril municipal building in Plaza San Jaime. The office will be open Monday through Friday in the morning; specific service hours will be communicated in the coming days.
This new service allows residents to file complaints without having to travel to the Dolores barracks, which has the station that covers the entire area of influence of the northern Vega Baja and on which the municipality depends. This will facilitate service to a population of close to 14,000 inhabitants.
The Civil Guard commander, Carlos Astrain, and the post’s sergeant in charge, Carlos Barquero, both attended the ceremony. During the signing, the Civil Guard thanked the City Council for their institutional support in launching this service, emphasising that it “will allow citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and improve the accessibility of services.”
Ana Serna, Albatera’s mayor, explained that the government team had been working on this project with the Local Police for some time: “With this office, we are taking another step to improve service and security in Albatera, providing our residents with a close and accessible service without having to travel outside the municipality.”
In truth, the deal, which has no more details but includes municipal provision of the premises, is to reopen a service that the Civil Guard formerly provided in the municipality but had to close.
