The National Police have taken a 31-year-old man into custody in Alcoy, a town in Alicante, for breaking workers’ rights. It is said that the man who was arrested was the manager of a hospitality firm where two unauthorised immigrants worked without contracts.
The police said in a statement that the inquiry started when they got information that a foreign national might have been exploited for labour in a hospitality business in this town.
The agents looked for the business, confirmed who was in charge, and identified the employees because there was a chance that an undocumented immigrant was working there without being registered in the Social Security Treasury database and might have been a victim of labour exploitation.
After these steps were taken, the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate and the establishment were both checked out. This led to two arrests for breaking the Immigration Law and one arrest for breaking workers’ rights.
After the police looked into it, the whole case was sent to the investigative courts in the town of Alcoy.
