Yesterday, Sunday April 5th, part of the roof of a hotel in Benidorm fell down, hurting seven people and prompting a big emergency response. The event, which made everyone there nervous, sent several people to the hospital, but none of them seem to have been seriously hurt.
The Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU) says that the call came in at 2:20 p.m. A Basic Life Support (BLS) unit, an Emergency Medical Assistance Service (SAMU) unit, and Red Cross workers were sent to the location in a non-emergency vehicle.
Seven people, five men and two women, were treated by medical services for bruises. After being checked out, two of them, an 8-year-old child and a 78-year-old man, were let go at the scene.
The remaining five persons, who were between 33 and 80 years old, were sent to the Marina Baixa Hospital and the Benidorm Clinic for more tests. We still don’t know what caused the collapse.
In the afternoon, some hours later, another severe event happened in the province. A car accident on the N-332 near Calpe killed a 57-year-old biker.
The call came in to the CICU at about 4:20 p.m., and they sent out both a Basic Life Support (BLS) unit and an Advanced Life Support (ALS) unit. The medical team did advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the individual, but he didn’t respond. They could only certify his death at the site.
