The Valencian Ministry of Health has placed on the Public Procurement Platform the tender for the provision of urgent and non-urgent patient transport services in the Valencian Community, with a budget of more than 580 million euros. The deadline for companies to submit their offers to participate in this tender is until May 15th.
This procurement process will therefore ensure the Health Department’s provision of the ambulance service for the next four years. The contract is for the period September 2026 to August 2030. The sum of the contract as stated does not include any extensions or revisions and may thus reach as high as €857.8 million.
Specifically, the services provided consist of the conveyance of land health, both urgent and non-urgent, as well as the rental of ambulances of class C without driver for some Advanced Life Support units of the Emergency Health Service of the Valencian Community.

The service provides for urgent transport of patients on the one hand, i.e. it is a priority and must be carried out without delay in order to guarantee the health of the patient in the shortest feasible period due to the risk to their health. In this case, the service is provided by the ambulances that make up the fleet of the Emergency Medical Service of the Valencian Community, composed of all types of ambulances created by Royal Decree 836/2012, of May 25, and managed through the CICU (Emergency Information and Coordination Centers).
It also includes non-emergency medical transportation, which is utilised when there is no risk to life and is intended for the transport of patients who do not need help throughout the journey. Those transfers are provided in non-emergency ambulances operated by the health departments.
Here, it is about patients who need ambulance transport for various reasons according to medical prescription: discharges from the emergency service, admissions or discharges from hospital, outpatient consultations, complementary tests and periodic services for haemodialysis, rehabilitation, radiotherapy or chemotherapy, among others.
On the other hand, it is worth noting that through this tender the Ministry of Health continues to provide improvements to provide citizens with the finest health care service, especially in health emergency situations.
So the contract has a chapter on the provision of various types of vehicles for logistical support and coordination in predictable risk situations, for possible emergencies with multiple victims and catastrophes. It also provides for a reserve fleet with the necessary characteristics and equipment, and for the maintenance of the vehicles and their crews.
Distribution of medical transport will be carried out from logistical bases across the Valencian Community according to the technical standards defined by the Ministry of Health. The Ministry is putting out to tender the urgent and non-urgent medical transport service for the Valencian Community for an amount surpassing 580 million euros.
