A severe traffic disaster occurred at the Tibi exit on the A-7 motorway in Alicante today, located at kilometre 480, as it travelled toward the provincial capital.
The Provincial Fire Consortium was notified of the severe accident at 4:38 p.m., which resulted in the injuries of multiple individuals as a result of the collision between two vehicles.
The 79-year-old male, two women aged 69 and 47, and the injured have been transported to hospitals in Alcoy and Elda.
The collision was head-on because one of the vehicles, which was occupied by two elderly individuals, was travelling in the wrong direction.
The A-7 motorway has been closed in this section, resulting in traffic delays of at least two kilometres until 6:45 p.m. This has resulted in diversions via the CV-827 and CV-815.
The Provincial Consortium has mobilised six fire crews from the Ibi and San Vicente fire stations to respond to the emergency, as a result of the severity of the incident.
Furthermore, the Alfa 9 medical helicopter has been dispatched to render medical assistance in the aftermath of this severe traffic accident in Alicante.
The Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU) has deployed two SVB units and one SAMU unit.
