To deliver this joint employment and training scheme, titled “Escuela Taller Benidorm Esport i Natura Jove”, Benidorm Town Council has secured a grant of 254.054,40€ from Labora. This funding will enable ten unemployed young adults to join the scheme.
Mónica Gómez explained that the project will run for 12 months, starting in March 2027. She noted that it will allow participants to gain formal qualifications and work experience in sports activities and the natural environment—two sectors highly valued by the local administration for boosting skills and employment opportunities.
The curriculum covers two professional certificates: “Auxiliary operations in organizing sports activities and facility management” (AFDA0511) and “Bicycle route guide” (AFDA0109). Practical experience will take place across municipal sports facilities and the El Moralet municipal forest estate, involving support roles, basic facility maintenance, route guiding, and community activities outdoors.
The 12-month project operates in two distinct stages. Over the initial three months, candidates will undertake theoretical and practical learning without an employment contract or standard wage. However, participants will receive a study grant of 9€ per day of attendance.
During the subsequent nine months, trainees will balance ongoing instruction with paid work experience through formal alternating employment contracts.
To qualify for consideration, candidates must be aged 16 to 29, currently unemployed, registered as job seekers with Labora, and satisfy the standard statutory criteria for training and recruitment.
Application steps for this Workshop School differ from previous council job schemes. Those interested must submit their applications directly via Punt Labora once the official vacancy listing opens. Further updates will be issued when the registration period is announced.
