The National Police have arrested a 32-year-old man in Benidorm who was wanted by the United Kingdom for drug trafficking offences. The individual was the subject of a European Arrest Warrant and faces the possibility of life imprisonment in Britain.
The arrested man was reportedly part of a criminal organisation based in Blackburn. Between 2022 and 2024, he was allegedly involved in the distribution of substances, including cocaine, ketamine and cannabis. Furthermore, he is accused of collaborating in the laundering of profits obtained from these activities by using his own bank accounts and those of third parties.
The investigation suggests that the man fled the United Kingdom after he learned that one of his associates had been detained. Suspecting that he was also implicated in the same criminal plot, he decided to leave the country. This led to the issuance of the European warrant to facilitate his location and arrest.
Spanish authorities received information indicating that the fugitive was staying in Benidorm. Following this lead, a police operation was launched to track him down. Officers successfully located the wanted man in the Alicante town and proceeded with the arrest in compliance with the judicial request from the United Kingdom.
Following the completion of police procedures, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the Central Investigating Court of the Audiencia Nacional, which holds jurisdiction over such international legal matters.
