Emergency services were unable to save the life of a 50-year-old man who died yesterday, Wednesday May 6th, after a motorhome fell on top of him in the Mortí Alto area of Totana, Murcia. The tragic incident occurred shortly before midday, when the 1-1-2 emergency coordination centre received an urgent call from a neighbour reporting the accident.
The caller alerted authorities that the vehicle had collapsed onto his neighbour, stating that only the man’s legs were visible from beneath the motorhome. In response to the alert, the Emergency Coordination Centre mobilised the Guardia Civil, Local Police, and firefighters from the Murcia Region Fire Extinction and Rescue Consortium. Additionally, an ambulance carrying medical staff from the 061 Urgent and Emergency Care Department was dispatched to the scene while officials worked to pinpoint the exact location.
By the time emergency teams arrived at the site in Mortí Alto, local residents had already managed to rescue the man from underneath the vehicle. Consequently, the intervention of the fire brigade was no longer required to move the motorhome. Despite the efforts of the medical professionals on the scene, they could only certify the man’s death.
