The Department of Culture in Orihuela City Council has officially opened the registration period for those wishing to participate in the 12th edition of the San Isidro Murals 2026. This popular cultural event is scheduled to take place from 22nd to 24th May within the well-known San Isidro neighbourhood of the city. The weekend festivities will also feature a new edition of Mercadearte, which is set to be held on Sunday 24th May.
Anabel García, the Councillor for Culture, explained that individuals interested in creating new murals or restoring existing ones can now complete their registration via the municipal website. The deadline for applications remains open until 18 May.
The event aims to once again transform the San Isidro district into a dedicated hub for urban art and artistic expression, further establishing it as one of the most distinctive cultural activities in the municipality. In addition to the painting of murals, the Council is organising Mercadearte, a market focused on handcrafted goods and artisanal products, which will run alongside the main day of the event.

The Department of Culture highlighted that those setting up stalls for Mercadearte will be exempt from paying fees. This initiative is designed to encourage participation from local creators and craftspeople. The goal of the project is to blend mural art with traditional craftsmanship to revitalise the neighbourhood, while celebrating the involvement of residents and the talent of participating artists.
Those interested in taking part in either the mural painting or the Mercadearte market can sign up using the forms provided by the City Council. Further information can also be requested through the telephone number and email address provided by the organisers.
