A man has been handed a two-year prison sentence after tearing off part of another man’s ear during a violent dispute over a parking space in Alicante. The incident took place at the parking facility located in the port of Alicante, specifically at the ferry terminal operating between Alicante and Oran.
The confrontation broke out on 28th June 2024 when the victim was attempting to drive his vehicle into the parking area of the terminal. A violent dispute ensued over the parking space, during which the defendant bit the victim, tearing off a portion of his ear and causing significant injuries.
Following the attack, the accused was arrested and transferred to the Alicante Provincial Police Station. According to the prosecution, the man maintained an aggressive attitude once at the station. While officers were attempting to conduct a body search before placing him into the holding cells, the defendant assaulted two National Police officers, punching one and kicking the other, resulting in minor injuries to both.
The prosecution had initially sought a five-year prison sentence. However, the final prison sentence has been set at two years after a judicial agreement. The execution of the prison sentence has been suspended for a period of two years on the strict condition that the convicted individual does not commit any further offences during this time. The sentence is now firm, meaning there is no possibility for either party to file an appeal.
