An investigation has been launched following the discovery of the bodies of an elderly woman and her son inside their property in Albacete.
The Government Delegation and the emergency services confirmed that the discovery took place on Friday afternoon, 22nd May, in a property located on Calle Almería , Albacete. The Castilla-La Mancha 112 Emergency and Coordination Service received an alert at around 14:50, which led to the deployment of medical and emergency personnel to the address, where both individuals were found deceased.
Initial reports from regional broadcaster CMMedia suggest that the bodies were discovered by the elderly woman’s niece, who regularly visited the property to deliver food. Local residents had reportedly already noticed a strong odour emanating from the residence prior to the emergency services being called.
The leading hypothesis being considered by police sources indicates that both individuals, who were of advanced age, may have died from natural causes several days ago.
Regional public broadcasting theories suggest that the son may have passed away first from causes that remain unclear, leaving his elderly mother unable to move or seek assistance. A formal investigation remains ongoing as authorities await the results of the post-mortem examinations to establish the exact cause and timing of both deaths.
