Two fugitives wanted for attempted homicide have been detained in Callosa de Segura after being on the run for over three years.
The operation involved the Guardia Civil and the local police, who tracked down the two men, aged 18 and 20, following several judicial search and arrest warrants. One of the outstanding legal proceedings linked the individuals to a case of attempted homicide which occurred within the municipality.
The investigation began in May 2023 when the Guardia Civil Main Post in Callosa de Segura was alerted to the warrants. Officers kept the case active as they searched for the individuals, whose whereabouts remained unknown.
Throughout the investigation, it was discovered that the suspects were moving between various properties in the town. Cooperation with the Local Police of Callosa de Segura helped officers identify the specific locations where the suspects were hiding, allowing them to prepare a tactical operation to prevent them from fleeing again.
The arrests were carried out on the morning of 8th May. A special security operation was deployed, involving public safety patrols from the Guardia Civil, investigators, and the Citizen Security Unit of Torrevieja, working alongside the local police.
Officers surrounded the property and the hillsides near Callosa de Segura to block any escape routes. The operation was successful, and both men were detained.
Following the arrests, the suspects were handed over to the relevant courts, and it was ordered that both be held in a juvenile detention centre. The operation has been praised for the high level of coordination between the different police forces involved in locating the fugitives and executing the pending judicial resolutions.
