Orihuela Town Council is to invest 115,251 euro in the comprehensive renovation of four of its main municipal aquatic facilities: the swimming pools of San Bartolomé, La Murada, Orihuela Costa and the Palacio del Agua. The project, which has an execution period of 45 calendar days, aims to modernise infrastructure, improve user safety and accessibility, and adapt the facilities to current health regulations.
The intervention will allow work to be carried out simultaneously across the four sites. From the total budget, 13,652 euro will be allocated to the San Bartolomé pool, 19,562 euro to La Murada, 40,652 euro to the Orihuela Costa Municipal Sports Centre and 6,173 euro to the Palacio del Agua.
The Councillor for Sports, Víctor Sigüenza, pointed out that these improvements will enhance safety, water quality, accessibility and the overall operation of facilities that are used throughout the year by both local residents and sports clubs. Furthermore, he highlighted that the investment forms part of the municipal strategy to continue modernising the local sports infrastructure network.
The planned works differ based on the specific needs of each site. In San Bartolomé, the hydraulic purification systems of the two existing pools will be refurbished, various deteriorated elements will be renewed, and the hydraulic chair for people with reduced mobility will be repaired. The control and dosing systems will also be updated, and the main flow meter will be replaced.
At the La Murada swimming pool, the purification system will be renovated by replacing filters, constructing a new compensation tank for the children’s pool and adapting the technical room, with the objective of improving facility efficiency and usage conditions.
Meanwhile, the Orihuela Costa Municipal Sports Centre will undergo a fine-tuning of its thermal and plumbing installations. The works will include improvements to the boiler room, the solar system, the dehumidifier and other service areas linked to the pool, which will increase energy efficiency and improve comfort for users.
As for the Palacio del Agua, the work will focus on reviewing and improving the hydraulic and purification systems of both the indoor and outdoor pools, reinforcing water quality control and ensuring a more efficient and reliable operation.
The local council emphasised that these works respond to corrective measures proposed following recent inspections and will adapt the facilities to current technical and health requirements. With this investment, the municipality intends to ensure that the municipal pools continue to provide services under optimum conditions of safety, quality and operation.
