A man has been sentenced by the Alicante Court to a total of nine years, ten months and fifteen days in prison for mistreating, threatening and raping his romantic partner, following an argument after she threw bleach on his drugs.
The events took place after 8:30 p.m. on 3rd October 2022, at the home they shared in the Alicante municipality of Petrer. According to the court ruling, a dispute broke out between the couple that evening because the woman had thrown bleach on a narcotic substance owned by the accused.
During the altercation, the defendant grabbed the woman by the collar of her bathrobe and threatened to shoot her twice for what she had done. He then threw her onto the bed, got on top of her and threatened to harm her loved ones.
These threats continued later via text messages and escalated in the bedroom as they were preparing to go to bed. The ruling states that the man grabbed his partner by the neck, telling her that, from then on, things were going to be done his way.
He then grabbed her hand and forced her to touch his genitals. When she refused, he got on top of her and raped her. Finally, he told her he would stab her if she left the room, before he went to sleep on the sofa.
The woman filed a complaint the following day, which led to the arrest of the accused and the initiation of legal proceedings. The man had a prior conviction, having previously been sentenced to nine months in prison for an offence involving threats.
In addition to the prison term, the court ruling states that the accused must compensate the victim with 8,000 euro for moral damages, as well as an additional 540 euro for the injuries caused.
