The Orihuela Council has added five new vehicles to the fleet of the public company Ecoplan Servicios to reinforce maintenance and conservation work in public spaces across Orihuela Costa. This new equipment aims to improve the operational capacity of the municipal teams and accelerate the response time to incidents on streets, green areas, beaches and other spaces for public use.
The addition has involved an investment of 157,200 euro, VAT included, through a public tender and under a leasing arrangement. The fleet now adds a light truck with a tipping body and four Combi-type vans with a light hitch, which are vehicles destined for daily maintenance tasks on the Orihuela coastline.
The Mayor of Orihuela, Pepe Vegara, highlighted that the local authority continues to provide Ecoplan with resources to improve the service on the coast. “We continue providing our public company with the necessary resources to offer a better service to the residents of Orihuela Costa,” he noted. According to him, the new vehicles allow operations to be carried out “with greater speed, efficiency and safety”.
More resources for Ecoplan in Orihuela Costa
The Councillor for Infrastructure, Víctor Valverde, explained that this addition forms part of the government team’s commitment to reinforcing Ecoplan Servicios with its own resources. In his view, this line of work makes it possible to improve the conservation of public roads and offer more agile attention to the incidents recorded on the coast.
The expansion of the vehicle fleet follows the mixed backhoe loader recently added by the public company. In addition, the council plans to complete the reinforcement in the coming months with the arrival of a 10-tonne truck equipped with a tipper and crane.
The municipal objective is to continue modernising the material resources of Ecoplan to meet the needs of Orihuela Costa, an area with a high demand for public services throughout the year and especially during the months of higher tourist influx.
More than 1,000 actions in the first year
Ecoplan Servicios has just completed its first year in charge of the maintenance of roads and public spaces in Orihuela Costa. During this period, the public company has carried out 1,015 actions out of the 1,310 incidents recorded. Of these, 75 were communicated directly by citizens through the Ecoplan application.
Among the developed works, the recovery of beaches after storms, the adaptation of sandy areas for Easter and the summer season, the improvement of different streets and collaboration in organising sporting, cultural and festive events held on the coast stand out.
Currently, Ecoplan Servicios has 23 workers. The workforce will grow to nearly 200 employees when the company assumes the comprehensive management of the urban solid waste collection and street cleaning service. With this growth, the council seeks to consolidate Ecoplan as a key tool for the improvement of municipal public services in Orihuela.
