A fire broke out in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 7th June, at a meat factory located on Calle Marmolistas, within the In-dos industrial estate in the Alicante municipality of Santa Pola.
According to information provided by the Provincial Firefighters Consortium, the blaze started at around 3:00 am and was brought under control by 6:42 am.
The fire originated inside the industrial unit, specifically within the cold storage chambers. This caused a significant amount of smoke and large flames, which went on to damage the roof of the warehouse, causing part of it to collapse.
A substantial emergency response operation was launched to extinguish the flames, involving a leadership command unit, a heavy urban pump, a heavy supply pump, an aerial ladder, and an air container unit. The deployed personnel included a sub-officer, a sergeant, two corporals, and nine firefighters drawing from stations in Elche, Crevillent, Torrevieja, and San Vicente.
