The operation, codenamed “Suebicum”, was carried out by the Guardia Civil and has resulted in the arrest of 11 suspected members of a criminal organisation dedicated to the manufacture and distribution of the substance. The suspects, consisting of eight men and three women aged between 21 and 36, allegedly supplied the drug to various entertainment and nightlife venues across Torrevieja.
The investigation originally began in March, when officers from the main Torrevieja station were probing a series of forced burglaries and violent robberies in the municipality. These initial enquiries led to the arrest and subsequent imprisonment of the primary robbery suspect. However, further analysis of the evidence allowed investigators to locate the property where the suspect lived with other group members.
Officers discovered that this property, along with three other residences in the town, was being used as a distribution hub and production base for the synthetic drug. With the backing of the Citizen Security Units (USECIC) from Alicante and Torrevieja, the Guardia Civil executed search warrants across four homes.
During the raids, officers dismantled two secret drug laboratories. They seized 12 grams of tusi, 30 grams of amphetamines, 820 euro in cash, and a significant amount of specialised equipment used for manufacturing, mixing, and dosing the illegal substances.
All 11 individuals were arrested and brought before the Torrevieja Investigating Court. Ten of the suspects have been released on bail with precautionary measures, while the remaining individual remains in prison due to the previous charges related to the violent robberies.
