Orihuela is setting up a new park and ride car park next to La Glea beach, in Orihuela Costa, with space for 205 vehicles. The project aims to make parking easier during the summer season. Additionally, it intends to reduce traffic congestion in one of the busiest areas of the Orihuela coastline.
The works are being promoted by the departments of Infrastructure and Coast and are being carried out by the public company Ecoplan. Of the 205 planned spaces, six will be reserved for people with reduced mobility, in accordance with current regulations.
The design of the car park will distribute the spaces in a 45-degree angled layout. The site will have a single entrance and a single exit to organise internal circulation and make better use of the available space.
The project also includes a specific area for bus parking. Furthermore, it incorporates the installation of vertical signs and the safety elements required to organise traffic.

The Councillor for Infrastructure, Víctor Valverde, pointed out that “we continue to improve the infrastructure of Orihuela Costa with actions that respond to the real needs of neighbours and visitors. This new car park will allow us to organise parking in a very busy spot and improve accessibility to La Glea beach.”
For his part, the Mayor of Orihuela, Pepe Vegara, highlighted that “these types of actions are essential to continue improving the services we offer on the coast, especially during the months of highest influx, committing to a more orderly and comfortable mobility for everyone.”
The new car park will offer an alternative close to the beach during the summer months. Moreover, it aims to meet the high demand for parking that Orihuela Costa regularly experiences.
