Agricultural thefts and robberies on farms across the Valencian Community fell by nearly 30 per cent during 2025 compared to the previous year. According to the latest data from the Ministry of the Interior, analysed by the farmers’ union LA UNIÓ Llauradora i Ramadera, known incidents on agricultural and livestock farms dropped from 1,333 in 2024 to 938 in 2025, representing a 29.6 per cent decline.
However, the agricultural organisation has expressed deep concern over a significant drop in the resolution of these crimes. During 2025, only 213 cases were solved compared to 327 in the previous year, which represents a 35 per cent drop. According to LA UNIÓ, this means that only two out of every ten reported farm robberies are ultimately solved.
By province, Valencia continued to experience the highest volume of agricultural thefts, with 610 known incidents during 2025. This was a 30.7 per cent reduction from the 880 cases recorded in 2024. However, solved crimes in the province also fell sharply, from 215 to 132, representing a 38.6 per cent decline. The organisation highlighted that Valencia is the second province in Spain with the highest number of agricultural robberies, behind only Almería.
In Alicante province, robberies fell by 31.4 per cent, down from 232 in 2024 to 159 in 2025. Solved crimes in Alicante also decreased from 78 to 53, representing a 32 per cent fall. Meanwhile, Castellón province recorded 169 robberies in 2025 compared to 221 in the previous year, a 23.5 per cent reduction. Solved cases in Castellón fell from 34 to 28, representing a 17.6 per cent decline.
LA UNIÓ pointed out that these statistics only reflect crimes that were officially reported. The organisation believes the actual number of thefts is likely higher, as many farmers and livestock breeders choose not to file a report due to the bureaucratic burden involved. Consequently, the union has called for an increase in the resources dedicated to investigating rural crimes to improve solve rates and tackle the sense of impunity in the countryside.
