A 78-year-old man has passed away on Varadero beach, located in the Alicante municipality of Santa Pola, after collapsing while inside the water, sources from the Guardia Civil have confirmed.
The incident occurred this Thursday, 16th July, shortly before 12:40 pm, when several beachgoers discovered the septuagenarian in the water and attempted to resuscitate him, though without success.
The deceased man is of Spanish nationality, and the Territorial Team of the Judicial Police from the Santa Pola armed institution has initiated the standard judicial protocol, according to the same sources.
