The new university campus in Torrevieja is scheduled to open its doors this September, boasting the capacity to accommodate more than 430 students. Torrevieja Council and the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) are currently finalising the academic programme for the upcoming 2026/2027 academic year.
The Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, and the Rector of the UMH, Juan José Ruiz, recently held a working meeting alongside the Councillor for Education, Ricardo Recuero, and the President of the Mediterranean Institute of Protocol Studies (IMEP), Jorge Rodríguez, to coordinate the educational, cultural, and research activities planned for the new facility.
The modern installations will be shared between the Miguel Hernández University, the University of Alicante, and the UNED. This combined presence aims to significantly strengthen the higher education options available within Torrevieja. Among the highlights of the new academic scheduling is the introduction of a new Degree in Business and Tourism Management. Additionally, the site will house the newly established Cátedra de la Habanera to promote cultural heritage, alongside various university-specific qualifications and microcredentials.
Local authorities and university leaders have reviewed the final opening schedule, the distribution of teaching spaces, and the technical equipment required for the classrooms. The ultimate objective is to establish the new Torrevieja campus as an open space for the public, encouraging the transfer of knowledge and bridging the connection between the university, the local business community, and the wider society of Torrevieja.
