Torrevieja City Council has announced that, due to the increased activity and traffic during the summer, vehicle parking on Calle Ramón Gallud will be restricted from Monday, 20th July, until the end of August. The restrictions apply to the section of the street between Calle Orihuela and Apolo.
During this period, parking will only be permitted on this stretch of Calle Ramón Gallud overnight, between 11:00 PM and 8:00 AM. Drivers must ensure their vehicles have vacated the area by 8:00 AM to comply with the temporary regulation.
This measure is traditionally implemented during the months when the influx of summer visitors is at its peak. The objective is to enhance mobility, improve safety, and ease the flow of both pedestrians and vehicles along one of the city centre’s primary commercial routes. The council will install appropriate signage in the affected area and has appealed to residents, business owners, and visitors to respect these schedules to avoid inconvenience. The decision was prompted by the desire to reduce traffic congestion heading towards the city centre and urban beaches, particularly given the daily traffic jams and queues often forming around the Port and the Paseo del Mar parking area.

In addition to the parking changes, the new internal road within the port area—which is yet to be officially named—opened today Saturday, 18th July, at 8:00 AM. This new route will provide access to the Leisure Centre car park, as well as direct access to the fish market, the Marina Salinas marina, and its surrounding commercial area. It is important to note that this road will not connect to Calle Ramón y Cajal, even upon the completion of the construction work.
Meanwhile, a previous commitment made by the mayor, Eduardo Dolón, on 22nd June regarding the new amusement park on the Paseo de La Libertad esplanade has faced further delays. The park was originally expected to be operational by 16th July , but the municipal government now anticipates a completion date towards the end of the month.
