The Local Police in Benidorm have arrested a 50-year-old Icelandic national accused of fraud after allegedly staying in various hotels and dining at local establishments across the city for ten days without paying his bills.
According to statements released by the police force on social media, the man had been in Benidorm for around ten days. During this period, he stayed overnight in several hotels and ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner at different venues without settling any of the receipts for the services received.
Officers had intervened on multiple occasions following incidents involving the individual. After identifying a recurring pattern of behaviour, they finally arrested him on suspicion of fraud.
Quique Tortosa, a spokesman for the Benidorm Local Police, explained that officers had encountered the suspect at several locations in the city before carrying out the arrest on his tenth day of stay.
The police shared details of the operation on social media with a humorous touch, noting that the bill had finally caught up with him. They added that for anyone choosing to travel in such a manner, the department offers a special package with accommodation included, referring to his time in police custody. The arrested man has been placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authorities.
