The Peru Integra Cultural Association has organised a commemorative event for Peruvian Day, which will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, 28th July, with a programme designed to share the traditions, culture, and identity of the Peruvian people. The day will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Archpriest Church of the Immaculate Conception. Afterwards, the celebration will move to the Plaza de la Constitución, where various commemorative and cultural activities will take place in honour of Peru.
The event will be attended by the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón; the Councillor for Social Welfare, Óscar Urtasun; and the Councillor for International Residents, Gitte Lund, who will accompany the Peruvian community residing in the municipality during this special day.
The main purpose of the celebration is to keep alive the roots and cultural identity of the Peruvian community, which has more than 400 registered citizens in Torrevieja, as well as to strengthen the bond of its members with the city that has welcomed them and in whose social, work, and cultural life they actively participate.
The Torrevieja City Council highlights the important work carried out by international residents’ associations to preserve and promote the culture of their countries of origin, while also contributing to creating meeting spaces and strengthening ties with the Torrevieja community as a whole.
Torrevieja is characterised as an open, diverse, and welcoming city, where residents from numerous countries around the world live together. This diversity is one of its defining features and contributes a great deal of human, social, and cultural richness to the municipality.
The Torrevieja City Council invites all citizens to participate in this day and join the Peruvian community in a celebration that will serve to share culture, gastronomy, and traditions, strengthen coexistence, and show, once again, the inclusive and multicultural character of the city.
