Officers from the Guardia Civil have arrested a 28-year-old man in Torrevieja who was wanted under multiple European Arrest Warrants. The requisitions had been issued by authorities in Lithuania for public order offences, and in Germany for property crimes.
The arrest took place during a routine public safety patrol in Torrevieja when Guardia Civil officers stopped to identify several individuals on a public street. During the checks, officers noticed inconsistencies in the documentation provided by one man, raising suspicions that he was using a false identity to evade justice.
To verify his genuine identity, officers carried out further enquiries that confirmed he was subject to international arrest orders. The suspect’s real identity was confirmed thanks to collaboration with the National Police Punto Atenas unit, a specialised division focused on biometric facial verification, prompting his immediate arrest.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the man had been hiding his true identity for years. During this period, he managed to carry out various administrative and banking procedures using false documentation. As a result, in addition to the international warrants, he is under investigation for document falsification.
