Guardamar del Segura Town Council is set to renew part of its municipal fleet by adding five brand new 100% electric vehicles.
The local authority has launched a tender for the supply of the vehicles through a financial lease agreement without a purchase option. The contract carries a total budget of 165,992.64 euro, including VAT, with an estimated base value of 137,184 euro before tax. The leasing arrangement will run for a period of four years (48 months).
The acquisition will introduce three electric industrial van-type vehicles and two electric passenger cars into the municipal operations. The three vans will be allocated to the municipal departments of Works, Environment, and Sports. Meanwhile, the two passenger cars will serve the Technical Office and Social Services.
Local officials justified the move as part of the municipality’s commitment to advancing towards electric mobility, reducing polluting emissions, and lowering traffic noise in the area.
All five vehicles must be brand new and completely electric. Under the terms of the tender, the contract covers far more than simply providing the transport. The cost must include comprehensive insurance, routine maintenance, repairs, registration fees, MOT inspections, fleet lettering, and replacement transport if a breakdown or repair work leaves a vehicle out of action for more than 48 hours.
Each vehicle is expected to cover approximately 15,000 kilometres annually. Furthermore, the winning bidder must install fleet management control equipment in all units and maintain the systems, granting the town council full access to monitor the gathered data.
Once delivered, the five vehicles will display the Guardamar del Segura corporate branding along with the name of their respective department using vinyl lettering, the cost of which is fully included in the contract terms. Interested companies have until 7 September to submit their bids.
