Orihuela Town Hall is expanding its network of semi-automatic external defibrillators with the installation of seven new units across various districts and coastal areas. This initiative aims to improve emergency cardiac care and increase survival rates during sudden cardiac arrests in public spaces.
The new devices have been supplied to the Local Police, Civil Protection, and various local public facilities. The expansion ensures that more areas, particularly those with high public attendance or further away from central emergency services, have immediate access to life-saving equipment.
Local authorities highlighted the importance of having these automated devices accessible to trained personnel and the public, as rapid intervention within the first few minutes of a cardiac event is vital. Alongside the distribution of the equipment, corresponding training sessions on basic life support and defibrillator operation are being provided to municipal staff and local emergency responders to ensure effective deployment when needed.
