The municipal electric vehicle initiative in Guardamar del Segura has hit a setback after failing to attract any commercial interest. The town council’s contract worth 166,000 euro to upgrade its municipal fleet has been declared void after receiving zero bids.
The tender aimed to acquire five new vehicles through a four-year renting agreement to service local departments, including public works, environment, sports, social services, and the technical office.
The terms of the agreement set an estimated mileage of 15,000 kilometres annually for each vehicle, alongside requirements for comprehensive insurance with no excess and 24-hour roadside assistance.
Following the lack of applicants, the local authority cannot award the supply under the current procedural guidelines. The resolution did not detail the reasons behind the lack of corporate participation, nor did it immediately announce a revised tender. Consequently, the green transition of the vehicle fleet in Guardamar del Segura remains on hold until the council decides how to proceed with the procurement process.
